ONARGA ACADEMY is seeking qualified & dedicated individuals to apply for the following
positions in our facility’s privatized 12-month school
program:
PRINCIPAL:
Responsibilities include developing and maintaining the academic
program for the
Onarga Academy school, supervising
and developing highly skilled faculty, ensuring an
environment conducive to education
and therapeutic treatment, serving as liaison with
clinical staff and external agencies,
providing crisis intervention, identifying
grants and proposals to enhance
programming, ensure compliance with Illinois state
standards, etc.
Qualifications: Illinois Administrative Certification
Type 75 with a Type 10
BD endorsement or LBS1 required,
Illinois certificate for Director of Special Education
preferred, minimum of three years
managerial experience in a community-based school
or psychiatric setting preferred.
SPECIAL
EDUCATION TEACHERS:
Responsibilities include engaging in a variety of instructional
techniques and behavior management strategies to implement IEP’s, assessing
educational and treatment needs of the residents, providing crisis intervention
techniques, etc.
Qualifications: Illinois Type
10 Teacher’s Certification required for teachers in the areas of LD, SED, and
TMH or LBS1, out-of-state comparable accepted, previous
applicable
experience preferred.
INDUSTRIAL ARTS TEACHER:
Responsibilities include providing instruction in a variety of
vocational and living skills
areas
including but not limited to shop, carpentry, auto mechanics/maintenance, etc.,
assessing vocational and treatment needs of the students, providing crisis
intervention, etc.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s
degree in Industrial Arts or Industrial Technology education,
Type
10 in industrial arts or industrial technology education or a Type 09
certification with Industrial Arts or Industrial Technology endorsement is required,
out-of-state comparable accepted, previous applicable experience preferred
PART-TIME MUSIC TEACHER:
Responsibilities include providing instruction in music performance,
history, appreciation etc., assessing musical interest and knowledge to
incorporate into student’s educational and treatment programming, etc.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s
degree in Music Education or Secondary Education with
endorsement
in music education, Type 10 certification in music education or Type 09
with
Music Education endorsement, out-of-state comparable accepted, previous
applicable experience preferred.
PART-TIME ART TEACHER:
Responsibilities include providing instruction in art appreciation,
history, etc., assessing various areas of art skills and interest to enhance
the student’s education and treatment opportunities, etc.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s
degree in Art Education or Bachelor’s degree in Secondary
Education
with endorsement in Art Education, Type 10 certification in Art Education or
Type
09 with endorsement in Art Education, out-of-state comparable accepted,
previous
applicable
experience preferred.
TEACHERS’ AIDES:
Responsibilities include providing classroom assistance in the areas of
instruction,
preparation
of classroom materials, records management, classroom supervision,
administering
and monitoring of health and safety procedures, etc.
Qualifications: must meet the
paraprofessional requirements as outlined by the Illinois State Board of
Education which includes at least two years of college credits, associates
degree
or demonstrate the knowledge and ability to assist in instruction through a
formal State or local academic assessment.
SUBSTITUTE TEACHER’S:
Responsibilities include engaging in a variety of instructional
techniques and behavior
management
strategies, administering lessons, providing crisis intervention, etc.
Qualifications: Illinois
Teacher’s Certification preferred, Bachelor’s degree required,
also
prefer certification in the areas of LD, SED and TMH.
SUBSTITUTE TEACHER’S AIDES:
Responsibilities include providing classroom assistance in instruction,
preparation of
classroom
