JOB TITLE: Director
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Foster Care
JOB FUNCTION: In conjunction with Foster Care Vice President, manages/directs assigned function through planning, organizing, monitoring, problem-solving, decision-making, and supervising to develop and provide client services as identified through program plans and contracts.
Grade: XI
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Provides supervision to Foster Care staff directly assigned to her/him as measured by:
§ Hires staff and facilitates their job orientation and training.
§ Supports and guides staff through review of client progress.
§ Monitors and evaluates staff performance.
§ Responds to crisis calls from staff.
§ Facilitates regular team meetings.
§ Mediates personnel discord.
B. Monitors service delivery system, achievement of Foster Care goals and costs as measured by:
§ Sign-off of travel reimbursement, time sheets and check requests/purchase orders.
§ Reviews budget reports and participates in budget projections.
§ Participates in QI processes.
§ Completes contract data requirements and represents the program in quarterly review.
§ Participates in the goal planning process to establish annual goals aligned with program plans and agency mission.
C. Demonstrates support for Agency and Foster Care goals as measured by:
§ Maintains communication/relationship with community agencies, state systems and funding sources.
§ Facilitates, attends and participates in a variety of internal and external meetings.
§ Shares skills by participation in other agency and program committees both Ad Hoc and long standing.
§ Consistently follows all established policies and procedures of Children’s Home.
D. Maintains professional boundaries with clients, co-workers, and others as measured by the following:
§ Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.
§ Maintains professional boundaries and relationships with clients, co-workers, community contacts, and supervisor.
§ Follows agency and program procedures regarding interaction with clients and families.
§ Effectively communicates with clients, co-workers, and supervisor.
§ Maintains sensitivity to issues of race, culture, and ethnicity
E. Maintains professional skill level by:
§ Participation in trainings and workshops related to current trends.
§ Participation in trainings and workshops required for professional license maintenance.
§ Review and dissemination of current child welfare literature and DCFS policy.
§ Performs other duties as assigned.
EQUIPMENT USED: Own vehicle, telephone, pager, fax, copy machine, computer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field; three years experience in a clinical, educational, residential, or treatment environment related to behavior disordered and emotionally disturbed children and their families.
Skill Requirements: Effective leadership skills, high level skills in oral and written communication; strong organizational skills; ability to work effectively within a management team framework; commitment to agency mission; demonstrates sensitivity to cultural and individual difference in staff and in children and families served; ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner.
Physical Requirements: Hearing and speaking ability which allows for effective oral communication of information; ability to physically transport self to various locations in carrying out job responsibilities; physical and emotional stamina to effectively handle job related problems and stress.
