EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Executive Director is responsible for the successful operation of the agency and reports to
the Board of Directors.
The Director of the agency must be of strong moral character; have a demonstrated record of leadership in operational and financial affairs; be able to positively represent the agency in the community, with governmental agencies and other professional organizations, and possess the communication skills necessary to maintain trust and support with the staff, the Board of Directors, contractors and the community.
Primary duties of the Executive Director:
q Develop, supervise and maintain treatment programs.
q Prepare budgets and contracts.
q Revise and develop personnel and operation policies.
q Promote and maintain community relations.
q Oversee facility maintenance.
q Facility and Programmatic Risk Management (identify and analyze the nature, frequency and severity of risks).
Qualifications for this position include:
q Must have a Master’s Degree in the Human Service Field and be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist and must maintain this licensure as a condition of employment.
q Must have three years work experience with children, at least two of which were in a residential or institutional setting.
q At least two years of administrative experience.
q Can have no direct or indirect financial interest in the assets, leases, business transactions or professional services of the organization.
q Must be physically capable of participating in the containment of adolescents that are endangering the safety of self, others or damaging property (specifically, lifting 50 pounds and demonstrating the ability to perform the restraint techniques as defined by the National Crisis Institute).
q Must have the ability to work constructively and communicated clearly with other staff, the youth in residence and community liaisons (parents, caseworkers, judges, etc).
q The ability to develop mutually respectful relationships with clients and their families to help promote self-awareness, self-confidence and problem solving skills.
q Belief in people’s ability to change and recognition of each individuals potential.
q Ability to work as a member of a team.
q Ability to set limits and to intervene when necessary, while maintaining a therapeutic rapport with the client.
q Ability and willingness to be sensitive and responsive to the cultural diversity of all clients served.
q Must take an examination through the state of Illinois on the Child Care Act and on the Licensing Rules (Part 402-Foster Care) and pass with at least a 70%.
q Must possess & maintain a valid driver’s license and approval from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to transport children. This approval is based on employee’s driving record.
q Must complete an authorization for background check regarding prior criminal convictions to be cleared by the Illinois Department of children and Family Services. Prior convictions may not preclude an individual from being hired.
